Discovering Life under Communism IN Czechoslovakia

Discovering Life under Communism IN Czechoslovakia

In 1946, a year after Germany surrendered in WWII, the Czechoslovak national parlimentary vote happened, where the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia won the majority of seats. As quickly as they gained the upperhand in the goverment did Czechoslovakia become a communist nation, uniquely separate from the USSR. It was not until 1989, after over four long decades, did the Communist Party declined and resigned.

However, between 1946 and 1989, a lot happened. Protest after protest, arrests and executions, watch by the Secret Police or the St谩tn铆 bezpe膷nost (StB), the Prague Spring and subsequent fall in August1968, underground music, and the Velvet Revolution. Between all of those historical events are the daily lives of Czechoslovakians.

Thus, there are many stories about living under communism in Czechoslovakia, either yours or someone you know, ready to be told to the world. We want your help to tell the story!
